This help feature will walk you through the process of downloading books, step by step.

Mount Morris is going to be holding a story hour for children age birth through preschool! The Itsy Bitsy Story Hour will begin on January 6th and will be every Thursday from 10am-10:30am (with 15 minutes at the end to check out books/talk/play/craft)! We have limited space and therefore, we have to cap registration to 25 people...so hurry in and sign up (first come, first serve)!You may call the library or come in to register. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is open now and will close when 25 people have registered!

Our Summer Reading Programs are well underway. The Children's Program has enjoyed a story hour in Spanish presented by Kristy Barry and another story hour presented by Joyce Tantillo. The children are doing a wonderful job with there reading efforts! The teen program has met twice. The teens created inspirational t-shirts to inspire themselves and others to "Make Waves". They then wore these t-shirts out in the community where they picked up garbage and cans/bottles. They are also collecting money to donate to the oil clean up efforts in the Gulf. The Mount Morris Library was selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association to receive a free collection of classic books which support the teaching, study and understanding of American history and culture. Bonus materials include a DVD edition of "The Civil War" by Ken Burns and the accompanying book.

There are books appropriate for every age level from kindergarten to adult. Topics include early Presidents, the Civil War, civil rights, the Great Depression of the 1930's, and more!

Come in and check out this amazing collection. You are sure to find something that interests you!

The Mount Morris Library will once again be participating in the Summer Reading Program. This program is designed to encourage reading and activity during the summer. There will be a Children's Group (Pre-K-12) and a Young Adults Group (13-19). The Children's Group activities and programs will be based on the theme "Make a Splash" and the Young Adults Group will be based on the theme "Make a Splash". More information regarding both groups will be forthcoming. To suggest ideas or find more information please contact the library! Yes, it is that time of year already! Our holiday books, audio books, and videos are out and available to our patrons.

We have everything from non-fiction stories about Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah to fiction novels. Come look through our collection of holiday cookbooks to become inspired, or bring home a classic movie to the family. If you do not find what you are looking for, feel free to ask a staff member if they can get it from another PLS library.

2009 Caldecott Medal Winner

The 2009 Caldecott Medal winner is The House in the Night, illustrated by Beth Krommes, written by Susan Marie Swanson (Houghton Mifflin Company). This book is available at Mount Morris Library.

2009 Newbery Medal Winner

The 2009 Newbery Medal winner is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Dave McKean, and published by HarperCollins Children's Books. This book is available at Mount Morris Library.

A delicious mix of murder, fantasy, humor and human longing, the tale of Nobody Owens is told in magical, haunting prose. A child marked for death by an ancient league of assassins escapes into an abandoned graveyard, where he is reared and protected by its spirit denizens.

The Mount Morris Library recently added a new collection! It is titled "The Big Read." This collection features books along with a study guide in audio cd format. Some titles include:

Computer/Internet Use

We have four public access computers. These computers may be signed out under your library card. The following rules apply to all computer use:

1. Computer users may not have fines exceeding $5.00.
2. Each patron's use will be limited to ONE HALF HOUR PER DAY, or one hour per day if no one is waiting.
3. Anyone found using a chat room will not be allowed to use the computers.
4. The computer may be used for a maximum of three times per week, unless computer use is for academic purposes.

Special Events/Meetings

If you would like to plan a special event at the library (such as a Boy or Girl Scout visit) please feel free to contact us to make arrangements.

Board Meetings:

The library's board meetings take place at the Library for the election of Trustees and for the transaction of business pertaining to library operations. The public is invited to attend.

Copier/Fax

Photocopies:

We have a photocopier that can copy in black and white. It is $.20 per page to copy single sided and $.25 per page to copy double sided.

Faxing:

We have a fax machine that patrons may use to send or receive faxes. It is $ .75 per page to send a fax, and $ .50 per page to receive a fax.

Borrowing Policies

We have a plethora of materials for you to check out (and don't forget that you can also order materials from other libraries within the OWWL system). The following are the loan periods for various materials.

Books: 3 week loan
Videos: 1 week loan
Audio books: 3 week loan
Magazines/Newspapers: 3 week loan

All materials may be renewed unless someone else has placed a hold on them.

All materials (except videos) that are returned late incur a 10 cent a day late fee. Videos incur a $1 late fee per day.

Non Returns: Library privileges will be suspended until books are returned or paid for. Anyone who has fines exceeding $5.00 cannot borrow materials or use computers until the fines are paid for, or are under said amount.

Patrons must be 18 years of age or older to borrow videos, or they must have written permission from a parent or guardian.

Holiday Closures

The library will be closed each Saturday from the end of June until Labor Day.

Summer Hours
